Moving from New York to Paloma Creek South next month
Hi all, I'm single, late 50s, and The median home value here is around $342,800, which seems about average. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. With a population of 8,797, Paloma Creek South is a small town. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I overthinking this? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Springfield. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

I've lived in Old Town for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The school system scene is solid
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..
