Curious what people think. Median household income is $107,974, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $2,138/month for a decent place. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 1 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to New York it's solid.

I'm a electrician and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely better than expected and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Fairview) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..
