What I wish I knew before living in Palos Hills

So, With a population of 18,139, Palos Hills is a small town. Homes are going for about $259,200 on average. Household incomes average around $83,969 in Palos Hills. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Pros:
- Diverse community
- Easy commute
- Good internet infrastructure
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homelessness issues downtown
The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Highland. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in construction. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Italian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 8 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..
