Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from San Francisco about 10 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is underrated.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The public transit is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I work in healthcare here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is hit or miss. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 6 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Phoenix it's decent.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor recreation is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.
