Not sure if this has been asked before, but I've been here for 15 years and The unemployment rate is 6.2%, which is concerning. You can expect to pay around $1,287 for rent here. Poverty rate is 12.9%, which is around average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Thoughts? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely average and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.
