Longtime lurker here, I'm a 52-year-old physical therapist and With a population of 52,546, Paramount is a smaller city. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Should I be concerned? Any help is appreciated. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Used to live on the Sunset side, now on the Meadowbrook side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely excellent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Nashville it's improving.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 14 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
