Curious what people think. My family moved here when I was a kid. Household incomes average around $70,912 in Paramount. Crime rate is something to consider -Paramount sits at 637.6 per 100K. Median household income is $70,912, which feels about average for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Let me know your thoughts. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 1 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been here 4 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is average.

I've been here 3 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Diverse dining options
- The outdoor recreation scene is average
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Eastside for 12 years. Moved from Boston for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is solid - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Rising rent and home prices. And public transit can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 6/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely solid and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
