Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 11 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much established but now it's decent.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Salt Lake City it's tough.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 13 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
