What I wish I knew before living in Park Hills

Curious what people think. Rent is about $737/month for a decent place.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Atlanta about 12 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is decent.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..

I'm a project manager and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

I've lived in North for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- The pet-friendliness scene is tough

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, Hope this helps!.
