My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Eastside side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I've lived in North for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- The nightlife scene is solid

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The dating scene is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Bought a house here in 2015 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 34, moved here 12 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Pine Hills and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The school system situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for retirees. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Denver about 7 years ago. The main reasons were work and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in The Heights area are decent. Kids love it here.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much developing but now it's underrated.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The housing market scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..
