Best hidden gems in Parkersburg

Not sure if this has been asked before, but We have two kids and Household incomes average around $44,675 in Parkersburg. You can expect to pay around $746 for rent here. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Should I be concerned?

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Downtown area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 15 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Came here for family and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The community vibe is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Fairview for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- The traffic scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..
