Cost of living reality check -Parklawn

Been meaning to ask this. You can expect to pay around $1,458 for rent here. Household incomes average around $70,813 in Parklawn. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Thoughts? Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for work and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The housing market is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 11 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 1 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is challenging.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Maple Ridge area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much stable but now it's pretty good.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely solid and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
