Been meaning to ask this. I'm a teacher here and Homes are going for about $1,045,000 on average. Median household income is $103,778, which feels pretty solid for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Worth the trade-offs?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 14 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into running, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to San Francisco it's hit or miss.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Westside area are decent. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.
