Rent is about $1,201/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $193,600, which is actually reasonable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Baltimore about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Austin about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Old Town area are average. Kids love it here.

Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the Pine Hills side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in West. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in tech. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.
