Things that make Pasadena unique
First post here. I'm a college student here and Crime rate is something to consider — Pasadena sits at 545.9 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,201 for rent here. Average temperature is around 72°F, so it's warm year-round. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.
Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Good schools
- Easy commute
- Active local events
- Good airport connections
Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Limited dining options
- High property taxes
- Lack of diversity
- Far from major airports
What neighborhoods would you suggest? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
