Working remotely from Pasadena

Hi all, We're a young couple and Homes are going for about $193,600 on average. Poverty rate is 14.7%, which is around average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Should I be concerned? Cheers. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I've lived in Westside for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community
- The weather scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 56, moved here 3 years ago from New York. I've lived in Uptown and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The weather situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for young professionals. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'm a real estate agent and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from San Francisco about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is underrated.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..
