How are the schools in Passaic?

Anyone else feel this way? Military spouse here. Poverty rate is 22.0%, which is higher than I expected. The median home value here is around $406,500, which is pretty steep. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Should I be concerned?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 15 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Moved here from Baltimore about 15 years ago. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Still getting used to food scene but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
