Is Passaic getting better or worse?

Longtime lurker here, I'm single, late 30s, and Median household income is $56,780, which feels about average for the area. The unemployment rate is 7.6%, which is concerning. Crime rate is something to consider -Passaic sits at 529.9 per 100K. Household incomes average around $56,780 in Passaic. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Am I wrong here? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Came here for retirement and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The public transit is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The cost of living is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..
