Not sure if this has been asked before, but Born and raised here. Household incomes average around $56,780 in Passaic. Homes are going for about $406,500 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Passaic sits at 529.9 per 100K. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The public transit is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for work and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The pet-friendliness is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 3 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
