Grocery stores in Paterson — recommendations?

Rent is about $1,457/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $335,400 on average. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Has anyone dealt with this? The weather takes some getting used to.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Bought a house here in 2015 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 3 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The healthcare is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is traffic. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 28, moved here 1 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Limited public transit options
3. The food scene situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for remote workers. decent vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Riverside for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- The nightlife scene is average

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..
