Jaxon Ramirez moving

Just moved to Paterson, any tips?

First post here. I relocated for work and You can expect to pay around $1,457 for rent here. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Pine Hills. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in legal. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 31, moved here 11 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Midtown and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The traffic situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for remote workers. tough vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $100K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Riverside. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Hope this helps!.
