First post here. I'm retired and The median home value here is around $427,400, which is pretty steep. The unemployment rate is 3.8%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Worth the trade-offs? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in The Heights. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in finance. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
