Cost of living reality check -Pawhuska

Military spouse here. Homes are going for about $107,900 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Old Town area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Highland. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Bought a house here in 2017 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

I'm a electrician and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Cedar Grove. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in South. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in marketing. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Hope this helps!.
