First time home buyer in Pawtucket

OK so I'm a teacher here and The median home value here is around $286,200, which seems about average. Rent is about $1,152/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $286,200 on average. The unemployment rate is 5.0%, which is about average. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Good schools
- Easy commute
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Hot summers
- Sprawl everywhere
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Any advice would be great. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I'm a software engineer and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Fairview. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in legal. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
