Hey folks, I'm a 55-year-old contractor and Poverty rate is 10.1%, which is around average. Crime rate is something to consider -Pawtucket sits at 406.8 per 100K. Homes are going for about $286,200 on average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Let me know your thoughts. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 27, moved here 14 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Sunset and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Property taxes are high
3. The nightlife situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for families. underrated vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in North. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is improving in most areas.
