Hey everyone, We have two kids and The median home value here is around $343,200, which seems about average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Any advice would be great. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Seattle it's surprisingly good.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Maple Ridge for 12 years. Moved from Dallas for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Dating scene is rough. Homeless population growing downtown. And nightlife can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 9/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is tough in most areas.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 8 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
