Day-to-day life in Payson, UT

Hi all, Just moved here 18 months ago and With a population of 22,205, Payson is a small town. Household incomes average around $84,286 in Payson. The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Payson sits at 100.1 per 100K. Rent is about $1,393/month for a decent place. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Easy commute
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Far from major airports
- Limited cultural events
- Homelessness issues downtown
- Not enough green space
Has anyone dealt with this? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Lakewood. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in real estate. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is excellent in most areas.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The public transit is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..
