Hey, I'm retired and The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. It's a a smaller city city with about 38,977 people. With a population of 38,977, Peachtree City is a smaller city. The median home value here is around $461,000, which is pretty steep. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to.
Pros:
- Good job market
- Diverse community
- Good airport connections
Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Cold winters
- Limited cultural events
- Homelessness issues downtown
- Not enough green space
Is this normal for Peachtree City? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Lakewood. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in retail. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Hope this helps!.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The safety is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 10 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a teacher, 58, moved here 10 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Eastside and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The weather situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for retirees. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $50K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Raleigh about 9 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Bought a house here in 2024 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in engineering. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in consulting. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.
