Considering Pearl vs Austin -help me decide

Hey, My family moved here when I was a kid. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. Poverty rate is 9.2%, which is pretty low. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Any advice would be great. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Portland about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is excellent.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..
