Random thought, Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Worth the trade-offs? Thanks! Property taxes are high but you get good services.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in The Heights area are improving. Kids love it here.

I'm a software engineer and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely improving and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (South) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2021 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is traffic. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor recreation is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Charlotte about 12 years ago. The main reasons were family and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from New York about 9 years ago. The main reasons were school and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is challenging.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
