Alright, It's a a mid-size city city with about 126K people. The unemployment rate is 2.1%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What do you all think? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Fairview area are excellent. Kids love it here.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Uptown for 10 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is improving - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Can feel isolated. And job market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 6/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
