Working remotely from Pearland

Curious what people think. Military spouse here. Homes are going for about $330,900 on average. With a population of 126K, Pearland is a mid-size city. Crime rate is something to consider — Pearland sits at 89.5 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. Let me know your thoughts. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely challenging and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in consulting here and I love the pace of life here. The job market for my field is decent. No regrets on my end..
