Random thought, Been living here since 2011. Household incomes average around $91,042 in Peekskill. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Anyone in a similar situation?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in North. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in tech. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'm a accountant and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cultural scene scene is average
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..
