I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

I work in retail here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is decent. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in South for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of new development happening
- The public transit scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 7 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The traffic is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'm a project manager and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 12 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Summers can be brutally hot
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is tough.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Feel free to reach out with questions..

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Affordable housing options
- The healthcare scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..
