Starting a business in Pell City?

Hey, Crime rate is something to consider -Pell City sits at 140.4 per 100K. It's a a small town city with about 13,353 people. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Has anyone dealt with this? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Portland about 10 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is solid.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Maple Ridge. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in marketing. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Hope this helps!.
