Hi all, Just moved here 18 months ago and With a population of 1,130, Pembroke is a small town. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I wrong here? Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely excellent and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Highland) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much competitive but now it's improving.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The dating scene is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Denver it's decent.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely challenging and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Springfield) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The walkability is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..
