Hi all, I grew up here but left for a while. Crime rate is something to consider -Penitas sits at 142.4 per 100K. Median household income is $52,857, which feels on the lower side for the area. Average temperature is around 73--F, so it's warm year-round. The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Let me know your thoughts. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good.
