Anyone regret moving to Peoria?

First post here. My partner and I are Poverty rate is 6.0%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $93,403 in Peoria. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Let me know your thoughts. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 3 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

The food scene here is excellent. Tons of great seafood places. I genuinely enjoy living here.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- The nightlife scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.
