Moving to Peoria with kids — good idea?

Hey folks, You can expect to pay around $1,743 for rent here. Homes are going for about $429,400 on average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What are your go-to spots? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 11 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
