Just moved to Peoria, any tips?

I'm a remote worker and The unemployment rate is 4.9%, which is about average. Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. Rent is about $951/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The job market scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is solid in most areas.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.
