Hey, I'm retired and The median home value here is around $149,500, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $149,500 on average. You can expect to pay around $951 for rent here. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Came here for weather and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor recreation is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Eastside for 7 years. Moved from Boston for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Road conditions need improvement. Limited entertainment options. And cultural scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 6/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.
