Unpopular opinion about Perkasie

Alright, Just moved here 6 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -Perkasie sits at 70.5 per 100K. Homes are going for about $338,700 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,164 for rent here. Rent is about $1,164/month for a decent place. With a population of 9,176, Perkasie is a small town. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Good internet infrastructure
- Plenty of shopping options
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Limited nightlife
- Far from major airports
- Chain restaurants dominate
Should I be concerned? The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much stable but now it's excellent.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 36, moved here 11 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in Highland and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The housing market situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for remote workers. challenging vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Pine Hills for 3 years. Moved from New York for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Pine Hills schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Far from beaches/mountains. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely improving and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Riverside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is excellent.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.
