Random thought, I'm a remote worker and Poverty rate is 9.3%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $82,523 in Perris. It's a a smaller city city with about 79,349 people. You can expect to pay around $1,791 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 4.5%, which is about average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.
Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Low crime in most areas
- Good schools
- Diverse community
- Active local events
Cons:
- Sprawl everywhere
- Limited dining options
- Poor road conditions
Should I be concerned? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from San Diego about 15 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The school system is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely solid and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Uptown) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2020 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 4 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Phoenix it's tough.
