Biggest downsides of living in Perry?

OK so With a population of 22,243, Perry is a small town. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Would love some local perspective. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is improving in most areas.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The nightlife is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much manageable but now it's improving.

Came here for retirement and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The public transit is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Cedar Grove for 13 years. Moved from New York for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is average - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Road conditions need improvement. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 8/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Miami about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is average.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
