Perryton quality of life -am I missing something?
Hi all, We have two kids and Homes are going for about $130,800 on average. Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. The unemployment rate is 0.8%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.
Pros:
- Friendly people
- Diverse community
- Walkable downtown
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events
Cons:
- Hot summers
- Limited dining options
- Limited cultural events
- Homelessness issues downtown
- Not enough green space
Should I be concerned? Thanks! It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development.
