Hey folks, Household incomes average around $53,958 in Perryville. The unemployment rate is 4.6%, which is about average. With a population of 8,530, Perryville is a small town. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I wrong here? The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Came here for school and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The nightlife is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Fairview for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The dating scene scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Raleigh about 1 years ago. The main reasons were school and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in tech. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Indian places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
