Pros and cons of Perth Amboy after 1 years

I grew up here but left for a while. Rent is about $1,629/month for a decent place. With a population of 55,278, Perth Amboy is a smaller city. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Does this match your experience? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in The Heights. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in engineering. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like seafood.
