Is Petersburg good for remote workers?

Hey folks, Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What are your go-to spots? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in East for 8 years. Moved from Portland for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Bugs and humidity in summer. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 9/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The outdoor recreation scene is solid

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Dallas about 15 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.
