Peñuelas zona urbana housing prices -when will it stop?
So, We're a young couple and Median household income is $30,019, which feels on the lower side for the area. You can expect to pay around $580 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What would you do?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Riverside. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in government. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Uptown for 1 years. Moved from Austin for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
legal is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Homeless population growing downtown. And cost of living can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 7/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

Bought a house here in 2018 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Bought a house here in 2020 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The safety is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 11 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
