Hey everyone, I'm a 44-year-old graphic designer and The median home value here is around $354,900, which seems about average. You can expect to pay around $1,856 for rent here. It's a a smaller city city with about 65,162 people. With a population of 65,162, Pflugerville is a smaller city. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Should I be concerned? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Downtown for 12 years. Moved from Chicago for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is solid - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Not very walkable outside downtown. And housing market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Sunset. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Fairview area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.
